East meets West with a blend of magical realism, non-traditional structures, and poignant narratives that examine societal structures and inspire audiences to examine new perspectives. Writer, DP, and Photographer/Videographer Andrew is a Chinese-American filmmaker from Boston who grew up managing his family's Chinese restaurant and daydreaming of becoming a disappointment by pursuing his love of artmaking. Director and Photographer Abigail is a multi-cultural Chicane artist hailing from the Blue Ridge Mountains with a background in live performance and directing/developing new plays and musicals. Drawn together by their passion for storytelling and life experiences that exist in and at the intersections, this real-life power couple is on a mission to blend and bend form and genre and examine the grey areas.

Having worked on high-stakes political campaigns with candidates like Elizabeth Warren, Andrew knows how to craft a compelling narrative that strikes a chord. His MFA in Filmmaking from Boston University adds an additional layer of sophistication and depth to their work. Abigail compliments this in creating riveting portraits, headshots, and event photography that go beyond mere visuals—they encapsulate your essence. Andrew Young
Andrew Young (He/Him) is a critically acclaimed filmmaker and photographer with an unquenchable thirst for storytelling, based primarily in the cultural hub of New York City—but he's equally at home on a friend's couch in any corner of the world. Adept at capturing the intricate facets of human emotion through his lens, Andrew is celebrated for his unique ability to transform everyday scenes into cinematic masterpieces.

Andrew holds a Master of Fine Arts in Cinematography from the prestigious Boston University, where he honed his craft under the guidance of some of the industry's finest professionals. Over the years, he has amassed an impressive portfolio, featuring dozens of films and video projects that showcase his talent in both narrative and documentary styles. His expertise extends from behind the camera to the editing room, making him a versatile force in filmmaking.

Internationally recognized, Andrew's distinctive visual and lighting work has graced the screens of esteemed film festivals across the globe, including the Seoul International Film Festival, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, and the iconic Cannes Film Festival. His oeuvre has garnered numerous awards and attracted a worldwide following that eagerly anticipates his every project.

A politically engaged artist, Andrew thrives on the adrenaline of the campaign trail. He has lent his visual storytelling skills to capture the essence of progressive political candidates, notably Senator Elizabeth Warren. His candid photography and evocative films have helped illuminate the platforms of these candidates, making a compelling case for change.

In recent times, Andrew has embraced the challenges and opportunities presented by virtual platforms. He is excitedly venturing into the realm of Zoom theater, collaborating with innovative groups like the Musical Theatre Factory. This allows him to explore new avenues for storytelling and audience engagement, thereby expanding the scope of his already versatile career.

Abigail Grubb
Abigail (they/she) is a multifaceted award-winning film director and photographer, originally from the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains and now residing in the Bronx. With an upbringing deeply influenced by both Appalachian folklore and their abuelito's rich cultural narratives, Abigail is a natural storyteller with a unique artistic vision.
In film, Abigail's work stands out for its commitment to intersectional storytelling that challenges traditional norms. Their directorial approach is deeply text-focused and rooted in physicality, enabling narratives that brim with life and resilience. Abigail thrives on early-stage collaborations with writers and actors, guiding projects across multiple genres, including plays, musicals, and films. Their background in various acting techniques and diverse dance forms equips them to coach actors into performances of authenticity and depth.
In the realm of photography, Abigail specializes in headshots, portraits, and event captures. Their keen eye for composition and storytelling through imagery has earned them accolades and a diverse clientele. Whether it's creating a captivating headshot or capturing the essence of an event, Abigail’s photography is always an invitation for conversation and deeper insight.
Beyond the artistic, Abigail is trained as a Curandera and is well-versed in herbalism and meditation. This holistic approach informs their understanding of interconnected energies, making each project an opportunity for both healing and sparking meaningful dialogue.
Abigail serves on the staff of the Musical Theatre Factory and CJAM Consulting, is an associate member of SDC, and is the co-founder and Program Director of the June Bingham New Playwright Commission. In partnership with award-winning director Devanand Janki, they work to redefine success in the entertainment industry—not by monetary gains, but through the upliftment and celebration of collective artistic talent.
